ChangeMakers acquires R&G Strategic

Halifax-based sustainability and climate advisory firm brings established expertise and client relationships to our growing North American platform.
We’ve acquired R&G Strategic, expanding our sustainability and climate capabilities and strengthening our presence in Atlantic Canada.
Founded in Halifax in 2016, R&G has built an integrated practice spanning ESG and sustainability strategy and reporting, stakeholder engagement, climate and GHG consulting, sustainability campaigns, branding, communications, and marketing. The firm has worked with more than 100 organizations across fifteen countries, helping clients embed sustainability into their businesses and communicate their impact.
As part of the move, R&G co-founder Liz Gosselin and sustainability leader Michelyn Dion are joining ChangeMakers as Vice Presidents within our Social Impact Consulting practice.
R&G co-founder Sarah Riley will serve as an Advisor to ChangeMakers, providing strategic counsel, strengthening client relationships, and helping to grow our business advisory practice.
The combination brings together complementary skills at a time when organizations are increasingly being asked to connect sustainability and climate commitments with business strategy, reputation, communications, community relationships, and measurable impact.
“Organizations are navigating increasingly complex expectations around sustainability, climate and impact — and those challenges rarely fit neatly within a single discipline,” says Alyssa Melnyk, President, Social Impact Consulting at ChangeMakers. “R&G has built something distinct by bringing rigorous sustainability thinking together with communications and creative. Combining that expertise with the capabilities across ChangeMakers gives us an opportunity to help clients connect strategy, people, communities and communications in a much more integrated way.”
R&G’s work has deliberately combined sustainability consulting with creative and communications expertise, with a team spanning sustainability, ESG, branding, technology, and communications design.
“We built R&G around the belief that sustainability needs to move beyond commitments and become part of how organizations actually operate, communicate and create value. ChangeMakers gives us the opportunity to build on that work with a much broader team and platform, while continuing to bring the strategic, creative and practical approach our clients know us for,” says Sarah Riley, co-founder of R&G Strategic.
The move also creates new opportunities across our existing client portfolio by connecting R&G’s sustainability and climate expertise with our capabilities in social impact, Indigenous relations and reconciliation, engagement, corporate strategy, reputation, research, brand, creative, marketing, and communications.
“R&G has always been about helping organizations turn ambition into meaningful action. What excites us about ChangeMakers is the scale of what becomes possible when we connect the expertise and relationships we’ve built with a larger, multidisciplinary team. For our clients, it means access to more capabilities and new ways to tackle increasingly complex challenges without losing the entrepreneurial approach that has always defined R&G,” says Liz Gosselin, co-founder of R&G Strategic.
R&G’s arrival reflects our approach to growth, with evolving client needs guiding the expertise and talent we bring together.
“R&G leadership have built a business around issues that are increasingly central to how organizations compete, grow and earn trust,” says Stefan Moores, CEO of ChangeMakers. “Bringing R&G into ChangeMakers is about more than adding another service offering. It’s about combining established expertise, clients and entrepreneurial talent with an integrated platform that can create even greater value. That is exactly how we want to grow.”
This move also strengthens our presence in Atlantic Canada and adds established relationships and experience across Canadian and international markets.
“I’ve admired the dynamos at R&G for years. They’ve built a business here in Halifax that has earned the confidence of clients around the world,” says Phil Otto, Co-Founder and Halifax-based partner of ChangeMakers. “Their expertise and energy will make ChangeMakers stronger, and I’m excited about what we can accomplish together for our clients.”
