A Gladue court focuses on criminal offence cases involving an Indigenous defendant.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This included helping Aboriginal Legal Services to identify common gaps and challenges that Indigenous clients face when accessing Gladue court and related legal services. The project sought to understand the specific needs of Indigenous people involved in the criminal court system, and how organizations such as Aboriginal Legal Services can advocate for the implementation of Indigenous justice principles within the broader context of the court system.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">To support Aboriginal Legal Services, ChangeMakers: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Interviewed key informants from across a broad range of backgrounds including community members and legal professionals;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conducted desktop research and environmental scans that were local, provincial and national in scope;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Undertook a three-phase needs assessment;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepared reports summarizing findings; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provided recommendations on governance and possible decision-making structures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":839,"template":"","client":[68],"class_list":["post-801","work","type-work","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 -
